The Russley Village resident Margaret Palmer, 88, went from painting china in her spare time, to creating art on canvas.
Painting china was “in vogue” back then, she says. After enjoying the hobby for a few years, a friend invited her to join tutored art classes – which she attended up until just five years ago.
Margaret started off painting with watercolours and progressed to using acrylics. “I love colour and I particularly love painting flowers.” Many of her creations are painted from photos she took while travelling with her husband. “I really enjoyed photography and we travelled a lot. I took lessons and did it for many years.”
Margaret, a mother of four, grandmother of five and great grandmother of eight, joined The Russley Village over a year ago. This is her second time exhibiting at Arts Canterbury.
