A Showcase of Local Artistry: Arts Canterbury Exhibition at The Russley Village

Russley Village

This year’s Arts Canterbury exhibition at The Russley Village is a celebration of local talent and community connection.

With over 45 artists - some exhibiting for the first time - a diverse mix of mediums will be featured, from photography, jewellery and embroidery, to paintings, stone sculptures and ceramics. “It’s exciting to be able to showcase some new talent,” says Arts Canterbury Exhibitions Coordinator, Mandy Palmer.

Visitors will have the chance to meet many of the artists in person, hear the stories behind their work and what inspires their creative process.

Mandy says more people than ever are recognising the importance of engaging with the arts and are eager to attend and participate in arts events. “From boosting mental wellbeing and contributing to the local economy, to bringing communities together across all ages, genders and ethnicities, the visual arts are a powerful vehicle for connection.

“The benefit to individuals and the wider community cannot be understated, and Arts Canterbury is proud to be at the forefront of this momentum in the region.”

The event will be held in The Russley Village’s main building, which is fully accessible and easy to navigate, on 24 May from 10am to 4pm, and on 25 May from 10am to 3pm. Entry is free, making it a perfect outing not just for older people, but for families, friends, and art lovers of all ages. Whether you’re a seasoned collector or simply looking for a relaxing, inspiring day out, there’s something here for everyone.

The Abode Café, located in the same building, will be open throughout the event - so visitors can enjoy a coffee or meal while chatting with friends. So come and experience colour, texture and creativity come alive - while supporting local artists and celebrating the power of art bringing people together.
